ACADEMICS

One school. One framework. Sixteen years of connected learning.

At ASB, every stage of your child's education builds naturally into the next - from play-based Early Years to the rigour of the IB Diploma. One journey, guided by the world's most respected educational framework.

What is the International Baccalaureate?

The International Baccalaureate is a globally recognized educational framework used by over 6,100 schools in 160 countries. Unlike traditional systems - where success means memorizing content and passing exams - the IB is built on inquiry. Our students ask real questions and investigate real problems, developing the critical independence to become lifelong learners who thrive long after they leave the classroom.

Where a conventional classroom delivers knowledge, an IB classroom develops thinkers. Students don't just study history - they debate why it matters. They don't just solve equations - they apply maths to real challenges. Critical thinking, research, and collaboration are embedded in every subject, at every stage.

ASB offers all three IB programmes - Primary, Middle Years, and Diploma - creating a continuous learning path from early childhood through university preparation. We are the only school in northern Spain offering this full continuum in English.

6,100+ schools in 160 countries · Accepted by 4,500+ universities worldwide

Four programs, one continuous path

Each stage builds on the one before. No gaps, no restarts - just a natural progression from wonder to independence.

"The only school in northern Spain offering the full IB continuum - in English - with over ten years of proven Diploma results."

What makes an IB education different?

Parents often ask how the IB compares to the British, American, or Spanish system. Here's what genuinely sets it apart.

Inquiry over memorization

Students don't just learn facts - they ask questions, investigate problems, and construct their own understanding. It's the difference between knowing and thinking.

Internationally portable

The IB is taught at 6,100+ schools in 160 countries. If your family moves, your child's education continues without disruption - anywhere in the world.

Valued by universities

Top universities actively seek IB DP graduates - and research shows they consistently outperform peers from national systems once they get there.

The whole child

Academic ability is only part of the picture. The IB is a holistic framework. Through service learning, creative expression, and digital citizenship, students grow as balanced, principled individuals.

The proof is in the outcomes

ASB students consistently outperform global averages - and go on to leading universities around the world.

Languages at ASB

English is our language from the very first day. Alongside it, every student learns Spanish and Euskera daily - and from Middle School can add French. Most ASB students leave fluent in three languages, often four. That fluency isn't a finishing-school flourish; it's how they make friends, travel, study, and eventually work.
